Helen Tennant, a Baillieston Ward resident and Chair Person of the Myatt Project is celebrating after SNP Councillor David Turner secured funding from the Council’s Area Committee to build a wheelchair ramp in Kirknewton Street, Greenfield.
Ms Tennant Said;
“We have been campaigned for a ramp for many many years and our appeals have always been overlooked by our former Councillors. But with Councillor Turners help we have been able to get the funding in order to build the ramp which will give greater access to Shettleston Road for Wheelchair users and for people with prams or buggies. Previously people would have to bump their buggies up and down the stairs while people in a wheelchair had to take a 20 minute detour."
Councillor Turner said;
“I am delighted I have been able to assist Helen, the Myatt Project and the many other people who have been campaigning for this ramp for many, many years. It really will make people’s life just that little bit easier.”
The ramp will be built over the next few week, the funding for this project will be provided from the Council’s Baillieston Area Committee and it could be able to help your local group or in your neighbourhood. Please contact Councillor Turner or Councillor McDonald for details.
